Job Description:

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking Field Operators to work at our Mill Materials Management location in Fort Wayne, IN. The Field Operator performs all functions that pertain to operating heavy off-road mobile equipment.
Pay: $50.00
Shift: varies, travel required

  Responsibilities
  The Field Operator will:
  
  • 
    
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections along with routine greasing, oiling and fueling
    
  • Idle the engine of the vehicle before driving and when stopping
    
  • Load and transport materials
    
  • Maintain and monitor feed materials
    
  • Maintain bucket levels when transporting materials to keep the machine balanced and prevent spillage
    
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Levy scrap quality guidelines
    
  • Keep roadways free and clean of scrap material in the processing area. Load internal trucks with materials while eliminating contamination. Complies with weight limits when loading trucks. Utilize a magnet to separate scrap from debris and slag
    
  • Utilize a magnet to load scrap into rail cars following all safe loading procedures.
    
  • Ensure equipment is properly loaded
    
  • Dump materials in the designated area
    
  • Monitor changes in equipment performance and report potential malfunctions to maintenance personnel
    
  • Use two-way radio to communicate with mill personnel and other site personnel
    
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle
    
  • Meet customer service requirements
    
  • Comply with all safety regulations and policies and recordkeeping
    
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
    
    Skills
    
    The Ideal candidate will have:
    
    
    
    
    • 
      
    • Experience operating end loader, excavator, dozer, and other specialized mobile equipment
      
    • A team and safety oriented mentality
      
    • Ability to communicate via radio
      
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and sit, stand, walk for extended periods
      
    • Ability to travel as needed
      
    • Ability to operate vehicle
      
    • Basic Mechanical aptitude.
      
    • Knowledge of bulk materials
      
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
      
    • High school diploma or equivalent
